After more than 15 years of enduring impact, our CEO Matthias Taft will be leaving BayWa r.e. Global at the end of August 2025. Throughout his time at BayWa r.e., Matthias played a key role in shaping the growth and strategic direction of our company, leaving a lasting mark on its journey in the #renewableenergy sector. From July 1-3, more than 500 participants from 35 countries attended the Agrivoltaics World Conference 2025 in Freiburg. The event brought together researchers, policymakers and industry experts to explore how #agrivoltaics can support both food and energy security in the face of climate change – so BayWa r.e. EMEA r.e. was of course also there. We delivered a total of five presentations, amongst them one by our colleague Erion Bousi on the important topic of rainwater harvesting in Agri-PV and by Stephan Schindele, who talked with Damien Fumey (PhD) about the industry perspectives for agrivoltaics. Together with Nestlé, we showed off our #cow-pv project to 45 conference participants, who also got to see the first dairy cows grazing peacefully under the shade of the PV panels during last week’s heatwave as a test phase. A cool spot for cows – and a hot topic for the future.? BayWa r.e. is also proud to be an official supporter of the Agri-PV Summer School. Hosted by Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE, the five-day immersive programme continues in Freiburg this week and offers a deep dive into agrivoltaics. ??BayWa r.e. and Stora Enso join forces to develop 1.2 GW of Onshore Wind in Sweden We’re proud to announce that BayWa r.e. has been selected by Stora Enso to jointly develop over 1.2 GW of onshore wind projects across Central and Northern Sweden. This milestone partnership combines our #renewableenergy expertise with Stora Enso’s commitment to sustainable land use. At least 158 turbines will be built and there is potential to add #solarenergy and #BESS. Our team in the Nordics is excited to launch the next steps now and start the dialogue with the local communities. ? Celebrates Success in the Energy Storage Business in the Netherlands We’re proud to announce that BayWa r.e. and our Dutch subsidiary GroenLeven have successfully completed the sale of our largest #batterystorage project in Europe to date to Vopak, a leading independent tank storage company. Located in the Northern Netherlands, this Ready-to-Build project includes:? ? Land rights ? A 300 MW grid connection ? All necessary permits This marks a major step forward in our mission to accelerate the #energytransition. The project will connect to the high-voltage grid of TenneT and is set to become a utility-scale Li-ion Battery Energy Storage System (#BESS) - enhancing grid flexibility and reliability.
